Due to the result of prior fixtures, the drawn match meant that Waverley ended up as the 2019 Premiers. We had our opportunities, but just couldn’t burst through when it counted. With Trinity extending the lead to 19-7, things were looking good. Unfortunately for Trinity, the Waves were able to cross just before the break to secure a double-digit lead at the half (0-12). Unfortunately, the team did not come away with the win over the weekend, but I’d like to thank each member of the team for their contribution to the 3rd XV over the course of this season. However, injuries aside, the boys had prepared well throughout the week with the focus of finishing strong and winning their last game. Regardless of the score line, it was a pleasure to see the boys improve and to really play for each other right through to the final whistle.

The 3rd XV have had mixed results, winning one trial match and two CAS games so far this season, with some close margins in their losses.

And looking at the score-line you might think that was for the best, but you’d be wrong. But I’m forgetting the game itself! As is the case with any 2nd XV, who you’re going to have on the paddock is different from week to week with injuries and performances in the teams around you often dragging players in different directions.
