They make an awesome duo and play off each other really well. In Chicago, the fourteen-year-old Annie lives with her family in the suburb and she has been chatting in a teen chat room in Internet with the sixteen year-old Charlie. It was just bad writing and direction. [6][7], Trust received positive reviews from critics. A suburban family is torn apart when fourteen-year-old Annie (Liana Liberato) meets her first boyfriend online.
Great movie. The other reason people might not like this movie is the tired, old "I hate Nicolas Cage" attitude. unbelievable how the writers screwed up this film at the end! Taglines There, Will sees a man in the crowd taking pictures, whom Will mistakes as one of the men from the registered sex offender list. It stars Clive Owen, Catherine Keener, Viola Davis, Jason Clarke, and Liana Liberato. The next day, Annie tries to move on with her life by participating in her school's volleyball game. It will!!!
It is amazing how much preconceived notions of what a movie is going to be can effect your reaction to it. It was a good movie up until the last 15 minutes. It tells its story of a 14-year-old girl and a predatory pedophile as a series of repercussions in which rape is only the first, and possibly not the worst, tragedy to strike its naive and vulnerable victim. Aside from that the soundtrack is very good. Her parents Will and Lynn are visited by the FBI Agent Doug Tate that is in charge of the investigation. So you may ask why I only rated it "one star". Assembling evidence with his team at a crime scene, he observes “This is a very interesting ashtray,” before being called outside by a superior officer. Trust (stylized as trust_) is a 2010 American drama thriller film directed by David Schwimmer and based on a screenplay by Andy Bellin and Robert Festinger, and an uncredited story by Schwimmer. I don't know why people are complaining so much about the ending of this movie. It is a movie that you can watch twice and give you a different experience the second time but none the less satisfying. Annie is taken aback at first but comes to believe that the two of them are in love. The movie has no real climax except the viewers complete and utter disappointment. The reviews for this where not good and almost didn't watch it but of course I wanted to see it cause of Nicholas. However, she is seduced by Charlie and loses her virginity to her "boyfriend" in a motel. Plot Keywords After two months of communicating electronically, Charlie invites Annie to meet him at the mall. It's easy to imagine how this story could have been exploited and dumbed down. It works instead with intelligence and sympathy. Metacritic Reviews. I started watching this film and was really in to it cause I like Nicholas Cage and there was some great acting. If you ask why it is good? Awesome chemistry and hilarious in an "Odd Couple" kind of way!!! The ending certainly leaves you without the expected gratification of a usual caper movie but that's what makes it good. Nicolas Cage is and always will be my favorite actor, his overall quirkiness and ability to play a complete different personality in every movie astounds me. It's like he's been on downers for a while, and now with The Trust, he finally got off those meds.
It was smart, fun and kinda strange. | But together these two really shine!!! It puts you on the wrong leg (as we say in Netherlands). These people, the type used in focus groups by the major studios, help screw films over, expecting "by the numbers" endings. Could have been a really good movie, but sadly ... NOT! Awards I like movies that turn away form the expectation that is built up, it is how real life is most of the times. Potential to be a great movie but ruined completely, Grabs you on the edge of your seat, then wanders off track like an extra from the Walking Dead, Never been so disappointed | nonsense story & ending - Cage is great. Cage has been on a dry run for the past few years. Everyone has their own reaction, but I think this movie delivers a lot more than the average crime film and it's all because of the way it ends. I like this movie. I was right. It’s easy to imagine how this story could have been exploited and dumbed down. A panicked call from Lynn leads Will to search the house for a semi-conscious Annie.
Annie later goes back to school. Can't believe they messed it up towards the end. I can not stress how pointless of a watch this was. In The Trust he is at his wackiest, this dark comedy thriller has him playing a deluded corrupt cop who has a plan to pull of a massive heist with his buddy cop played by Elijah Wood who has no idea of Cage's plan. Days later, although Charlie has still not been identified, DNA evidence proves he has previously sexually abused several other young girls. So don't let you initial reaction of it being different stop you from appreciating it. The scene where Annie is raped was filmed as late as possible, to ensure a "really safe environment for Liana".
In an interview Schwimmer stated that he always wanted Annie to be played by a 14-year-old, as "there is a danger, if you cast someone who is 18, 19 or 20 to play 14 or 15, that very subtly, almost unconsciously, the audience is, 'Oh, this isn't so bad.'" The debut feature of brother filmmaking team Alex and Benjamin Brewer, “The Trust” casts Cage as a seemingly earnest and beleaguered Las Vegas cop. This movie highlights what really talented actors these two guys are and why we've enjoyed watching them for so long!!!
It has been a very long time since Nicolas Cage has done a good movie.

The events initiate an FBI investigation. The family is torn apart and while Lynn supports her daughter, Will becomes obsessed to find the sexual predator. Without giving away any of the movie, the ending was very disappointing. I also liked Woods in it. She locks herself in the bathroom at home and attempts suicide by overdosing with pills, unbeknownst to her father, who's still at home. She confronts her father, and insists that she just wants to move on with her life. He tells her he is 16, and they talk a lot although she has never actually seen him. It was refreshingly different to a lot of movies. Parents Guide.
Then. As the credits roll, a home video reveals Charlie to be a high school physics teacher named Graham Weston, a married father with a young son. If you really don't like him, stop watching his movies! He makes her try on lingerie that he bought her. So much so, that I wish I didn't watch it. I just want people to give it a chance.
In order to defend this movie, I must mention things that you may consider spoilers. | I don't know why the idea of Nicholas Cage and Elijah Wood starring in a crime thriller together is funny to me, but it is. The Trust is a heist movie that gives Nicolas Cage his juiciest performance since Kick-Ass and indulges some very kooky Cageian line readings.
