Armalite created the original proprietary intermediate gas system (the mid length). Still waiting on a report for a broken LMT enhanced bolt. If you want a super durable bolt that will never fail, then buy an LMT enhanced bolt (even stronger than knight's bolt), the sharps reliabolt, or the soon to be released Spike's S7 bolt.
Adding a can is certainly going to make it worse. I didnât bring artillery. Been shooting 11.5" lately and it's pretty gassy. Edit: also, is you purchase a KAC upper it comes with the appropriate buffer. Yeah, they’re light but I have nothing to compare it to with respect to their “standard” uppers. I've heard that the SR-15 is just tuned well and isn't too gassy with a can on it.

KAC, BCM, Noveske, DD etc. I was considering BCM, Noveske and KAC and ended up with the KAC b/c I kept seeing people talk about them in an almost reverent way. Copyright © 1996-2020 AR15.COM LLC. I can't even remember the last time I had a malfunction with any of them, it was many thousands of rounds ago. not taking anything away from Knights but to me anyway the options that are std on a KAC is where the value is. IF I have to spend my money on one top quality, will not fail rifle, KAC would get a 10.0 and LMT a 9.9. KAC produces carbine gassed SBRs with E3 bolts. Opening up the bolt face to fit the wider Soviet round removes strength. Of course, I'll know once I actually get to shooting it. Best out of the box carbine available........KAC does not disappoint! There are also some charging handles that help to block/divert gas. If I go the BCM way I'd be saving money and that money would go towards an optic. After all, without ammo you are left with an expensive club. People realized its a quality product, and they're purchasing them.

Meh, A new Bolt cost $40 and I would suggest a std bolt would out last a barrel, besides when its time to replace the barrel it will also be time to replace the bolt. I don't think I wanna go into KAC or Hodge price territory but if I'm sacrificing quality by going somewhere else then I'll go there. After getting my hands on the gun, their ambi setup is superior to anything that I have been able to do on my other guns with different brands of bolt and mag releases. BCM might tickle most people's fancy but when you get down to the things that matter, they don't compare very well. Buy, Sell, and Trade your Firearms and Gear. 7.62x39 is HARDLY a "high pressure" round when compared to 5.56 NATO. My advise would be not to worry about gas and go with whatever upper you want, and get a charging handle that deals with suppressor gas. Planning on throwing it on a Mega Arms GTR-3H lower.
