SPEED shouldnt really be a difference.The max speed for the N between the 2.4 and the 5 are the exact same.The only major difference.. is the 5 has a shorter range.. but while within that range will often have a stronger signal, so less chance of a bad signal between it and the router.As well, you tend to NOT get the same interfearance on the 5 as you do with the 2.4 (from portables, microwaves, etc). This version does not do 802.11ac networks, which are becoming more prevalent. If the passwords don’t match, change this password to match your 2.4G network password, then select Save Changes. We would like to help you in regards to this situation. From what I remember of it, the easy connect stick contains an executable which connects to the modem, assuming that the modems IP address is 192.168.0.1.

If that is the case, the instructions should be modified to indicate that the feature is available through tech support only. However, by the next day the problem reoccurred with the replacement Hitron router.

Also, i would log into the modem after its back up (via something that can connect to it) and change them from the default names (and passwords).

It has been set up to extend both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Note: For those people , whose computer Does not support 5.4 GHz , they can enable 5.4 GHz on laptop / PC by buying external USB WiFi Adaptor. I can't imagine that Hitron built this without a WPA-2 Security mode and AES encryption mode for the guest accounts, or that Rogers, for some reason, had them removed.
