THE CATALAN CIRCUS

I don’t know if a Catalan circus exists, but I know there are good circus artists in Catalonia. Artists who know how to transmit with their art a life and social commitment, who have a wonderful capacity to light us with their creations, to make us travel across time, making us feel childhood illusion again but with our adult conscience. I know that they are people who don’t fear the poor economic situation neither poor work conditions and people who stand together, who put their body in other’s hands with confidence and a smile. That’s why I envy you circus people.

Because you know how to move the audience and every time you know better how to express throughout circus emotions and complex ideas. And because circus is an sponge art that can dialogue with all other arts at the same time, because knows (among other things) juggling, acrobatics, rope and trapeze. And because nowadays the only lucid look is the clown’s one, and ultimately, I would like to be one and I haven’t find the clown inside of me.

I’ll continue to look for it in La Central del Circ in Barcelona, in Ateneu Popular de Nou Barris in Barcelona, in Fira de Circ al Carrer de La Bisbal, in International Clown Festival in Cornellà, in Circ Cric in Montseny, in Fira Trapezi in Reus, in La Vela de l’Estruch in Sabadell, also in Mercat de les Flors, wherever. Salut i circ. Cesc Casadesús, director of Mercat de les Flors (Barcelona)
